Hey Friends!
Happy Tuesday to yous all! Did you lot have a good weekend?!
We certainly did! On Saturday, the conditions was absolutely GORGEOUS with temperatures in the upper 60's! The sun was shining bright & we even got to open the windows for a couple of hours to let some fresh air in…. Information technology.WAS. HEAVENLY!
With the change in the conditions I found myself wanting to work on a project, then I finally tackled i that has been on my list for quite some time now! I gave our living room sofa a trivial makeover…
It's looking pretty now, merely don't be deceived!
Just a few days ago, it was suffering from S aggy Sofa Syndrome….
For existent! It's a thing y'all!
Nosotros've had our living room sofa for almost vi years now. We purchased it at Ashley furniture & believe it or non, I however really like it.
Or at least I like it when it's perky….
The saggy couch…I'm not existent fond of information technology!
Can you lot blame me?!
Does your couch look like this?!
If so, accept no fear, I've got some like shooting fish in a barrel & inexpensive saggy couch solutions for you!
I actually got this idea from my friend Susan at Living Rich On Less. She gave her couch a makeover almost a twelvemonth ago, and ever since she did, I added it to my list of things to practice!
The first thing I did for this makeover was wash all of our couch cushion & throw pillow covers! This was pretty piece of cake to practise since all of our cushion covers have zippers on them. Nevertheless, despite this fact, I had never thrown them in the washing machine before…..
I know, gross, correct?!
Allow me simply tell you lot, I had NO IDEA how filthy those things were until I washed them! It was unbelievable!
I washed all of the cushion & throw pillow covers in our washing machine on a regular wash cycle. The throw pillow covers were thrown in the dryer, but the couch cushion covers I hung outside to dry. I was a little scared that they may compress in the dryer and that I might never get the cushions back inside them!
The cushions on the dorsum of our couch do non come off, simply they do still have the zipper enclosures underneath. I bought a 10lb box of Poly-Fil at our local Walmart store for $20.00 and used it to add together more stuffing to the dorsum cushions. I just unzipped the cushions & stuffed! Easy peasy!! You tin can see by looking at the pic beneath, that this in itself, fabricated a HUGE difference in our couch!
I also used the Poly-Fil to re-stuff our throw pillows. These are the Aforementioned throw pillows that came with the burrow 6 years ago. Subsequently washing them & adding the new Poly-Fil, they literally looked BRAND NEW! I couldn't believe the difference!
Every bit far as the seat cushions become, I perked them up a bit using some Poly-Fil Quilt Batting. Once again, I bought the batting at our local Walmart. Information technology was around $ix.00. I actually went through two packages on the couch. I'm gonna have to get back & get some more to finish upwardly our beloved seat! You lot can see the "before" photograph of the cushion in the upper right paw corner of the photo below & the "after" photo underneath. I added 3 layers of quilt batting to the cushion before putting it dorsum into it's embrace.
To prevent the quilt batting from shifting inside the cover, I secured each layer with a spray agglutinative that I purchased at Hobby Foyer. I just sprayed a layer of the adhesive between each layer of quilt batting.
Here is what the burrow looked like when I was finished….
I am absolutely thrilled with how it turned out!!
And now I'thousand kicking myself for waiting so long to practice it!
Here is an up close "before & afterwards" comparison. Quite the difference, wouldn't you say?!
And then…..moral of the story?!
If your couch is looking a little saggy….it doesn't necessarily mean that it'due south fourth dimension to replace it!
Just a brand a trip to Walmart for some Poly-Fil & quilt batting and you'll accept yourself a brand new couch in no time!
Cheers and then much for stopping past!!
Have yourself a lovely day! 🙂
